Our Family Legacy
In the 1980s, a family left South Korea and made Southern California their new home. What began as a search for belonging in a new country turned into a legacy of flavor.
Starting small in their own garage, they crafted kimchi the traditional way — as an act of love and comfort for family and friends. As word spread, so did the passion for sharing authentic Korean flavors. In 1997, that passion opened the doors of a storefront, welcoming the local community and people of all cultures to experience true Korean food.
Today, Hansung Honey Kimchi continues that same legacy: preserving tradition, prioritizing quality, and delivering flavors that bring comfort, health, and connection to every table.

Why our kimchi?
What sets our kimchi apart is that we've kept a traditional, hand-crafted process for every batch. Despite receiving offers for mass production, we've continuously stayed dedicated to keeping our production artisanal, preserving our heritage, quality, and freshness. Many store-bought kimchi are fermenting for weeks prior to hitting shelves, but we produce fresh kimchi every week, giving you the opportunity to choose how long to ferment it to your preferred taste.
What is Kimchi?
Kimchi is a traditional Korean side dish with a history dating back 1500 years. While there are many varieties with different vegetables and flavors, they all have the same fermentation process.
Fermentation creates healthy bacteria called probiotics, which studies have found provide numerous health benefits, such as a healthy gut microbiome, which leads to better digestion and a stronger immune system. Kimchi is also packed with antioxidants and essential nutrients such as vitamin A, B6, C, and K, fiber, and iron.
With the variety of vegetable bases and flavor profiles, there are plenty of kimchi options for everybody. It's a versatile side dish that can really go with anything. Most people eat it with rice, noodles, and other Korean dishes, but if you want to get creative, you can also use it as a topping on other cuisines like tacos or pizza.
